Let\u2019s talk about the tourists.\u00a0 After I complain about the weather.\u00a0 Again.\u00a0 My weather app says it\u2019s going to snow. I<\/span><\/span> sound like a whiner:\u00a0 Oh, it\u2019s cold here.\u00a0 Oh, it\u2019s raining here. Oh, there are too many tourists here.<\/em> \u00a0So yes I am.\u00a0 Some of our friends will tell you that.\u00a0 Ok, maybe all of our friends will tell you that.\u00a0 Whatever.\u00a0 My POINT is,\u00a0 I wanted desperately to p**s off the people back home with great photos of sitting on a terrace, eating and drinking, feet up with a backdrop of endless sunny blue sky.\u00a0 Not. Happening. In. Granada.\u00a0 Enough about the weather for a paragraph or two.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Now let\u2019s talk about the hordes.\u00a0 Quelle horreur as they would say in France.\u00a0 Have no idea what they\u2019d say in Spain, but I should probably look that up. \u00a0And I\u2019m not really going complain about them either. \u00a0There are a LOT of people here, wandering around or gathered (outside) the tapas joints eating and drinking. \u00a0We\u2019ve struck up some interesting conversations with few. There is quite a bit of history to see in this part of Spain, and it attracts tourists, just like us I suppose. \u00a0It brings in a lot of coin for the city of Granada. \u00a0It\u2019s amusing at times to stand back and watch.\u00a0 The locals are wearing heavy wool pants and parkas while the tourist have backpacks and wear shorts with layers of green, orange, or clear garbage bags for water repellant.\u00a0 They move in large groups of 20 or 30, often with a pack leader, and here in the narrow streets we frequently have to stand inside someone\u2019s doorway to let them pass. \u00a0\u00a0I bet more than a few of them wished they\u2019d gone to the Algarve this year.\u00a0 Damn, didn\u2019t even make it one paragraph.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Both of us were a little surprised though at how busy the city is considering that it is (at least so we thought) low season.\u00a0 Everyone wants to visit the Alhambra, at any time of the year, even in winter.\u00a0 Lots of Americans here, Aussies, many Europeans of course, and I think some of the mall-rats followed us.\u00a0 So, the hordes have the Alhambra entrance tickets (\u2018cause you gotta plan this like a year ahead) and\u2026 we don\u2019t.\u00a0 They only have about 6000 tickets available per day and yes, they are booked months and months in advance.\u00a0 Major bummer!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But wait\u2026.let\u2019s talk about the weather.\u00a0 Did I hear a collective groan? \u00a0\u00a0Have I mentioned how much we LIKE the cold and wet?\u00a0 After a little perseverance and digging, it turns out the Alhambra sometimes releases unsold or cancelled tickets to try and maintain the 6000 person quota.\u00a0 Checked the website a few times, crossed the fingers, and voil<\/span>\u00e1.\u00a0 Score!\u00a0 Tickets available for several days this week.\u00a0 I guess some of those touristos decided to go to the Algarve after all.\u00a0 Thank you, weather gods!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So, we\u2019ll be off to the Alhambra in the next day or two.\u00a0 Oh, the horr(ordes)!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
